Qualification: MSocSc

Institution: University of KwaZulu-Natal

Year Completed: 2021

After completing my hard-earned Master’s degree in Population Studies, I embarked on a journey filled with professional growth and impactful work. I decided to put my plans for a PhD on hold as I wanted to embrace a leadership role as a Site-Coordinator at IRD South Africa, spearheading vital research on COVID-19 and Mental Health.

Despite the stress and challenges of balancing work, family, and friends, I have thrived, earning promotions, and expanding my expertise. From being a Mental Health Program Associate to Research Fellow and interim Coordinator for Maternal and Child Health initiatives, I have shown unwavering dedication to my career.

Unfortunately, in my mission to succeed in my career, it’s been challenging to keep up with my hobbies and other leisure activities. I’m still finding it hard to adjust and manage my time to accommodate everything that will be beneficial to my wellbeing.

Nonetheless, I haven’t forgotten about my passions.  This year, I am eager to carve out time for hobbies like sports and singing. I miss singing and dancing and while I still sing in the shower, I miss singing at church and musicals more! I’m praying for a guitar as a 2024 Christmas gift as I believe that will motivate me to take my music career to the next level.

I’m hoping and praying for the best this year, and if God wills, I will pursue my PhD soon!
