Siyabonga Meyiwa
Qualification: BEd
Institution: Stadio
Year Completed: 2019
My career began in 2014 when I joined YES Trust as one of the students funded by the trust. I was studying Teaching (Foundation Phase) through the Embury Institute for Higher Education (now Stadio). During my college years, I was privileged to receive accommodation in Pinetown, provided by YES Trust, which facilitated my travel back and forth to college.
Upon completing my studies, I embarked on my career through internships and volunteer work. I volunteered at Durban Children’s Home, where I worked with a young boy who had learning difficulties and couldn’t thrive in a traditional school environment. I developed a specialized curriculum to support his learning and also contributed to their rehab centre.
My journey continued as I gained experience in various schools as an intern. I worked at Kloof Junior Primary School, Highbury Preparatory School, and Lynford School. Eventually, I secured a teaching position at New Hanover Preparatory School as a Zulu Teacher for Grades 1-7. I later advanced to the role of IT Manager and Computer Teacher.
On a personal note, I am now engaged to my fiancé, and together we have a son.
